Inter Milan fullback Gosens confirms talks with Bayer Leverkusen

Inter Milan fullback Robin Gosens has confirmed turning down Bayer Leverkusen over the summer.

Gosens signed for Inter last season from Atalanta.

“I definitely don't have the World Cup ticket yet. I'm still fighting my way back," Gosens told Sport 1.

“I'm not in the same shape I was in Bergamo. I'm close, but at the same time, I know that there is still a lot of work to do.

“My family has always been my guarantee of success. I can always count on my wife. When I was injured, my son was born. All of that was positive. We footballers already live in a kind of parallel world and need this family grounding.

“I play for a world club and I'm happy at Inter," he continued.

“I aim to assert myself at this big club. I have to play three, four, five games in a row now. That's what I'm working towards. I also have to get into a rhythm with a view to the World Cup.

“I spoke to [Bayer director] Simon Rolfes on the phone and it was an open and honest exchange. I told him that I'm not done at Inter.

“I feel very comfortable at Inter at the moment and I'm certainly not there against my will. I am fully motivated but I'm only really satisfied when I'm on the pitch, I expect this from myself."
