Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti was delighted with their 5-0 rout of Genoa.
A Roberto Gagliardini brace, Matteo Politano, Joao Mario and Radja Nainggolan were Inter's goalscorers.
“We must always start from scratch in every game and work hard, because if we don't keep that solid mentality, we won't do well," Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia.
“The team had the right attitude, worked as a team, pressed high and the forwards helped out in defence too. That kind of approach is more often than not rewarded with the result.
“The most satisfying thing was to see the 70,000 in the stadium today applauding and pleased with our performance. They put their faith in us last season and continued to come, showing their love for the club colours and waiting for us to deliver.
“Football doesn't change all that much. If you keep possession and are comfortable on the ball, that is the fundamental thing. It takes pressure off our defence, causes problems for the opposition tactics and gives us the chance to find the quality in the individuals.
“If you score at the end of a period of good possession, that's just even better."
