Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte has revealed he wanted to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Chelsea.

The Swedish veteran signed for AC Milan last week after coming off contract at LA Galaxy.

Conte declared on Friday: "I welcome Ibrahimovic.

"He knows very well that there was a time when I tried to convince him to come to Chelsea, but he was in the recovery phase and did not want to accept.

"I think he can give a lot to AC Milan and bring personality by making the team more responsible."

Ibrahimovic made his debut this week in their 0-0 draw with Sampdoria at San Siro.
