Swiss reporter adamant Xhaka has signed new Arsenal contract

Granit Xhaka has agreed a new deal with Arsenal.

Indeed, via Fussball Transfers Swiss reporter Andreas Böni, of Blick, has stated Xhaka has put pen to paper on a new contract to 2025.

An official statement from Arsenal is now expected.

The 28 year-old midfielder signed for the Gunners five years ago and appeared set to leave earlier this summer for AS Roma.

However, the two clubs couldn't settle on a fee and Xhaka is now committing his future to Arsenal.

The Switzerland captain saw a bid from Roma of €15m rejected by Arsenal last month. The Gunners had been seeking €20m to sell Xhaka.

Assisting Roma in negotiations at the time was Arsenal's deal for Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga. However, it now appears Xhaka is all set to stay and play alongside Lokonga rather than be replaced by the Belgian youngster.

Xhaka started Friday's Premier League opening defeat at Brentford.
