Liverpool are in talks with the minders of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.
Sport1's Florian Plettenberg has revealed Liverpool are keen on the Germany international and talks have been held with his management team'.
"The question is only when he will make that next step [and transfer away from Borussia Monchengladbach].
"He has a contract until 2024 and he has no release clause, but if there is an offer this summer, then there will be talks with [sporting director] Max Eberl.
"It is more likely that he will move in the next summer, so 2022, but it is all dependent on the situation of Liverpool - are they putting some numbers on the table this year or not?"
Plettenberg also said: "He wants to make the right step but it is very important it is the best feeling for him in his stomach.
"This is something he has told me - he wants to have a good feeling in the talks and he wants to know that the next club is really interested in him.
"Neuhaus is a big fan of Bayern Munich and his father is one of the biggest Bayern fans, so Bayern is totally in the race for him.
"But Neuhaus told me last week that he can imagine going abroad and he does not need to go to Bayern Munich - he is totally open and flexible.
