Newcastle United defender Sebastien Bassong is wanted by Tottenham.

With Spurs suffering a defensive injury crisis, The Times says manager Harry Redknapp will pursue Bassong, the Newcastle United defender, because Sylvain Distin is likely to move elsewhere or extend his deal at Portsmouth.

Bassong has made no secret of his desire to quit relegated Newcastle this summer.
