Injury forces Stoke defender Wilson out of Euros with Republic of Ireland

Stoke defender Marc Wilson has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 campaign because of a long-standing knee problem.

The 28 year old has not played a senior game for club Stoke since damaging knee ligaments in January and limped out of a behind-closed-doors friendly last month.

Manager Martin O'Neill said on Monday the 24-cap player had suffered a setback and would not make the squad.
