Burnley striker Jonathan Walters has been forced to retire from football due to an ongoing achilles problem.

He wrote on Twitter: "Isn't it ironic...my Achilles heel has literally been my Achilles heel and finished me off!"

Walters made a name for himself playing for Stoke City before joining Burnley in 2017.

The 35-year-old won 54 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
