Indian tycoon denies Liverpool purchase links

Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has denied claims that he is preparing to purchase English club Liverpool.

The world's seventh-richest man has been linked with a takeover at Anfield as one of two businessman planning to buyout current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet but in both cases, the reports are untrue.

Ambani, who is the chairman and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries (oil conglomerates) and Subrata Roy, chairman of the Sahara Group, are both in the running to pay off Liverpool's enormous debts and take a 51% stake in the club according to reports but spokesman from both companies have played down their potential involvement.

Reliance spokesman Sudeep Purkayastha said: "There is no truth to the report. We deny it completely."

Meanwhile, Sahara spokesman Abhijit Sarkar said: "We are presently not in a position to comment."
