Ince backs Man Utd's Hargreaves to make successful return

MK Dons manager Paul Ince has backed Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves to make a successful return to the game.

The 28-year old is back in training after recovering from operations he had to cure tendinitis in his knees and Ince believes that he can come back and be an important player both United and the England national team.

"Ferguson must feel he's worth it to persist with him for such a long time, he's a fantastic player," Ince said.

"I like the way he plays and he has been missed. If you get him fit it'll be like having a new player, not only for Manchester United but for England as well.

"He's been out for so long that it's nice to see him back on the pitch where he belongs."

Ince believes that although the World Cup might come around too quickly for Hargreaves, he said it was good for England boss Fabio Capello to have other options if he needs them.

"Owen has six months so the World Cup might come a little bit too early for him but who knows," he added.

"It's always nice for England to have that other option. Mentally, he's a fantastic player.

"Every team needs that combative midfielder who can get about, tackle, win balls and break up play and he can do that.

"There are six or seven sides that can win the World Cup and England are one of those."
