Darwin Nunez's relatively modest wage demands helped Liverpool get his signing over the line with Benfica.

Nunez has put pen to paper on a six-year deal that will see him tied to Anfield until 2028. Nunez has accepted a package worth £140,000-a-week, which leaves him outside the club's top earners Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have paid a fee of £64.1million (€75m) with a possible £21.3m (€25m) in add-ons depending on individual success, ranging from reaching appearance landmarks, scoring goals to winning the Champions League.

The large fee has been offset by the personal demands of Nunez.

Spanish side Almeria will receive 20 per cent of the fee as part of their €24m sale of Nunez to Benfica in September 2020.
