Ian Ayre leaving Liverpool for 1860 Munich

Ian Ayre is leaving as Liverpool CEO this month to take charge of TSV 1860 Munich.

The Liverpool Echo says Ayre, who has served his boyhood club for the past decade, has been heavily involved in the transition process since he announced his intention to step down last March.

As part of an extensive restructuring of Liverpool's management structure, Billy Hogan has been promoted to the role of managing director and chief commercial officer.

Andy Hughes, who was previously chief financial officer, has been made chief operating officer.

Ayre had been due to stay on at Anfield until May but his departure has been brought forward three months following discussions with owners Fenway Sports Group.
