Roberto Firmino has admitted that he was left very surprised at David Luiz's return to Chelsea this summer.

There were a host of surprising transfers which took place in the window this summer but arguably the biggest shock move was Luiz returning to Chelsea from for PSG for a whopping £34million on deadline day.

Brazilian international compatriot Firmino is a close friend of Luiz but even he has now gone on to admit that the defender's move back to Stamford Bridge took him by surprise.

The 24-year-old told the Daily Mail: “He's my amigo.

“I don't get the chance to see him in person a lot but I speak to him on WhatsApp whenever I can.

“I was a little bit surprised when he came back to England but he is a great player. I've not spoken to him this week but I'm looking forward to playing against him."

Chelsea and Liverpool clash at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
