I turned down Chelsea, Inter to join Wolfsburg – Bruma

Dutch international Jeffrey Bruma has revealed that he turned down interest from his former club Chelsea and Serie A giants Inter Milan to join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The 24-year-old centre-back was on Chelsea's books for four years before he moved to Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in 2013.

Earlier this summer, he joined Wolfsburg for a transfer fee believed to be around £10million and has revealed that a return to Stamford Bridge or a move to Inter were both on the cards.

He told German newspaper SportBild: "I had other options like Inter Milan. I could have gone back to Chelsea, who wanted me.

"Also there was a way to stay at PSV Eindhoven, who are regularly in the Champions League. But in the end I was attracted by the project at Wolfsburg.

"Wolfsburg is a club where I can play. This is very important for my further development.

"At Chelsea or Inter, it would have been difficult for me to make the next step.

"My goal is to return to European football. Everyone knows how beautiful it is to play in the Champions League."
