Manu Garcia has revealed that he received instructions from David Silva ahead of his Manchester City first team debut against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Garcia was one of the many youngsters who was handed a first start in City's 5-1 fifth round defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday and the 18-year-old certainly performed very well despite the comprehensive loss suffered by the Citizens.

Garcia has now gone on to reveal that he took advice from fellow attacking midfielder Silva prior to the clash and believes that the experience of playing against Chelsea was a valuable one for all the youngsters involved.

"We are both Spanish and play in the same position so he talks to me a lot," he said.

"Before the game he told me to go and express myself, not to be nervous or scared, just be how I am in training, and I tried to follow what he said.

"It was an amazing experience for everyone; it was just unlucky we didn't win it. Everyone pushed each other. We knew it was our opportunity to express ourselves and I think we did it."
