I do not need to warn Grealish anymore - Aston Villa boss Sherwood

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood refused to warn Jack Grealish ahead of his 20th birthday which took place on Thursday.

The Villa midfielder has recently become infamous for his wild partying ways and has been reprimanded by the Villa manager previously.

With the possibility of Grealish letting his hair down for his 20th, Sherwood insisted that he should no longer have to keep an eye on such a talent if he is serious about making the grade as a professional footballer.

Sherwood said: "Surely I haven't got to warn him anymore. There are plenty more birthdays out there for him to celebrate after he has finished.

"All I try to influence him on is what he does when he's here and playing. He is doing very well. I haven't seen any repeat of those events so I can't complain.

"Unfortunately he picked up an ankle injury the day before the Sunderland game. We're hoping he might be able to get himself fit for this weekend and certainly the derbies coming up.

"He'll be in the squad for the game with Leicester - as long as nothing happens... overnight!

"I like to play down young talent. So you need to dampen expectations. But Jack is exceptional."
