I cannot fathom why England we so poor at Euro2016 - Gordon Banks

1966 World Cup winner Gordon Banks can't fathom the reasons behind England's poor performances at Euro2016.

Roy Hodgson's men, who were hailed as one of the favourites to win the tournament, finished second in their group behind Wales and bowed out after embarrassingly losing their last 16 tie to Iceland.

"I was very, very disappointed," former Leicester City and Stoke City star Banks, 78, told Express Sport.

"In terms of the amount of people England have got to select from, they say it's the same amount of people in Leicester.

"We've got all these other players competing and yet we couldn't play anything like the other teams. I thought we were very, very poor and I don't know why.

"It's strange and I can't fathom it."
