Hull midfielder Mason: Right time to leave Spurs

Former Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has explained why he made the move to Hull City last week.

The midfielder turned down Sunderland to join the Tigers after admitting defeat in his bid to earn a starting spot under Mauricio Pochettino.

Mason said: “A lot of people have asked if it was a wrench to leave but the time felt right.

“I reached my decision to move on about two weeks ago. I didn't get any game time in the first two matches, and I'm the type who just wants to play football, so when the chance came up for a fresh challenge I accepted it.

“The opportunity arose to join Hull and I didn't hesitate. I went with my gut instinct and I'm happy I made the decision.

“It feels right and I've no regrets. Having the three lads from Spurs has helped me to settle in."
