Hull City have made an approach to Gianfranco Zola about becoming their new manager, according to Sky Sports in Italy.

Chelsea legend Zola has had managerial spells in English football with West Ham and Watford, but both ended with the sack.

He then moved back to his home island of Sardinia to manage Cagliari, but that reign ended in his dismissal too.

His most recent job was as head coach of Al-Arabi in Qatar, who dismissed him in June.
