Hull hand crock Ashbee bumper contract

Hull City have handed injured captain Ian Ashbee a new contract.

The Mirror says Ashbee is battling to save his career after undergoing two knee operations in America with Dr Richard Steadman on ruptured cruciate ligaments.

He has been ruled out for the entire season and medical experts fear he might have to retire.

Ashbee will be almost 34 at the start of next season and his future has been left hanging in the balance as he continues his rehabilitation.

But despite his problems he has hit the jackpot with a new 12-month extension worth around £20,000-a-week that has provided him with an unexpected boost.

The deal was handed to Ashbee by former chairman Paul Duffen in one of his final acts before resigning from the club earlier this month.
