Hull City chairman Paul Duffen has distanced himself from rumours that Sunderland midfielder Dean Whitehead is destined for the Tigers. "They are not players we are trying to acquire at this point," he told the Sunderland Echo.

"In the middle of the park we're looking forward to Jimmy Bullard coming back (in September)."
