Hull City boss Mike Phelan is delighted with the leadership of skipper Curtis Davies.
Topping the charts for interceptions (31), clearances (41) and most blocked shots (11), the 31-year-old has been imperious at the heart of Hull City's patched-up back four.
"He's taken on the armband really well," Phelan told the Hull Daily Mail. "He had it previously and then it went to someone else (Michael Dawson). Now he's taken it back.
"He's taken on those responsibilities with a lot of vigour and probably surprised a few people with the intensity of his performances. But that's required. He took on the mantle and took on the job, understanding the role he had to play in a small squad.
"That's probably helped him focus on being a leader and that's a credit to him. It's rebounded on to everyone else and galvanised the group."
