Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is wary of burning his players in the Carling Cup at Chelsea.
They won the competition in 2007 and have a good enough squad to rest key players and still field 11 internationals.
"We are playing Chelsea away - it's a difficult game and I won't be taking it lightly," he said.
"Our approach will be guided by the weekend games and the injuries we might suffer, but I am very conscious of the fact we're playing Chelsea away.
"You can't take that sort of game lightly and we won't be doing that.
"I'm aware that we have a very tough game against Chelsea, but of course I know that we've got a tough game on Sunday as well so it's a balancing act.
"But no one will be going out against Chelsea who I don't think is ready for it."
