Chris Hughton wants Brighton to get the right results against sides that are not in the top six.
Hughton has endured a tough start to the season, with his side facing the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham in the opening seven games.
But now they have a break, with the next game against a "top six" side in mid-December.
And he wants them to win a lot of those games to pick up enough points to stay in the league.
He said to The Argus: "It's really important for us. Probably what we don't like to say is we don't think we can't get results against the top six.
"Certainly in our case, we've run them close in games.
"It goes without saying, we have better opportunities and better chances to get points against the teams outside of that six.
"It's a big period for us and we need to make full benefit of it."
