Brighton owner Tony Bloom considered sacking Chris Hughton four weeks ago, according to The Argus.

Bloom held off on making the decision out of fear that it could backfire and make things worse.

Hughton was eventually sacked on Monday after a dismal end to the season.

He spent four-and-a-half-years in charge of the Seagulls.
