Hughton prepared to mix up his Newcastle strikers

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is prepared to change his frontmen in a bid to return to the Premier League. The Magpies recruited Republic of Ireland international Leon Best from Coventry during the January transfer window and, with Andy Carroll, Peter Lovenkrands and Nile Ranger already on the books, Hughton is confident he has the right blend in attack.

He said: "At this moment, the important thing is that we have competition for places up front and real positive contributions.

"Whether that's starting...and if they are not starting, you want players desperate to come off the bench to score goals.

"They can all learn from each other. What we do have is different types of player, and that allows us to have lots of different combinations.

"But the most important thing is that they all show a real determination to want to score goals."
