Hughton asks patience for Brighton expensive duo Locadia & Jahanbakhsh

Brighton manager Chris Hughton wants the fans to be patient with his two attacking signings.

Both Jurgen Locadia and Alireza Jahanbakhsh have massive expectations attached to their names.

Both started the 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Carabao Cup second round. They were unimpressive and some fans are not pleased.

Hughton said to The Argus: "With Ali he came back late from World Cup duty. He has to be able to adapt to the game here. It will take a bit of time.

"There's no doubt he's a talent, we know that from what he produced in Holland last season, but he didn't start the same time as everybody else, so he has been a little bit behind.

"He will certainly get up to speed and the game won't have done him any harm.

"There are players that haven't played as regularly as others. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer to get into a real rhythmn, to get to the real levels you need in each game.

"I thought Jurgen worked hard enough. When you are a striker, when you have been playing regularly, things fall for you and it just gives you that little bit of an edge.
