Hughes: Man City could've beaten Real Madrid for Man Utd's Ronaldo

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes says they could've competed with Real Madrid for former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hughes said: "I'm sure we could have made the case for Ronaldo, but we choose realistic targets and that was never going to be a realistic one for us.

"Cristiano has enjoyed his time in Manchester, but there was only one place he was going to leave United for - the club he is going to."
