Hughes admits Southampton need to find greater self-belief

Southampton boss Mark Hughes admits they need to find greater self-belief.

Hughes reflected upon their 3-0 humbling by Chelsea on Sunday.

He said, “Sometimes you have to accept you were second best on the day. We were a little bit fearful of the ability of Chelsea.

“We needed to show a bit more belief in how good we actually are. I think today we were a little bit too respectful of a good Chelsea team.

“We know we're not going to create huge amounts of chances against a good Chelsea team, albeit their keeper has made a couple of outstanding saves along with the two chances, but that didn't happen.

“We haven't performed at anything like the level we did in the games against Wolves and Everton, so that's a disappointment because we know what we're capable of."
