Huddersfield veteran Naysmith: I never appreciated Moyes until leaving Everton

Huddersfield wing-back Gary Naysmith admits he didn't fully appreciate Everton manager David Moyes until he left Goodison Park.

Now 31, the left back looks back on his seven-year career at Everton with a greater understanding of Moyes' credentials as a manager.

He told the Everton matchday programme: "I don't know whether I appreciated the manager until I'd left. When I was there, I was in and out of the team, whether it was due to injuries or maybe me not playing too well when I got a chance and stuff like that, and I never really appreciated the job that the manager was doing or how good a coach he was.

"And it's only when I look back that I realise how good a coach he was, how good the training that we did was and how he prepared us for games. When you're there you don't see the big picture. I've been away three years now, I can look back, see why he did certain things, and I have to hold my hands up and say that he has done a fantastic job at Everton and he's a top manager."
