Howe warns Bournemouth not safe after Burnley defeat

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has warned his players they're not safe after a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Burnley.

Ashley Barnes put through his own net after just four minutes, but Sean Dyche's side hit back strongly and turned things around with two goals in just over two minutes - firstly from Chris Wood heading in Ashley Westwood's cross.

Just 139 second later, Westwood went from provider to scorer as he took advantage of a poor clearance to fire beyond Asmir Begovic.

Begovic was at fault for the decisive Burnley goal as he fluffed a cross straight to Chris Wood who set-up Barnes to score at the right end to secure back-to-back wins for Burnley that takes them eight points clear Cardiff in that final relegation place and looking like they've done enough to survive.

Asked if they're safe, Howe said: "I don't know how many times I have to say it, we are not safe.

"I don't consider myself safe either and the players are absolutely the same.

"The run of form has not been good enough but we are desperate to turn it around, maybe confidence is low, we've had injuries and the form I think is more down to that rather than considering ourselves safe.

"We can 100% still go down and until someone says we're safe that is only when we will be safe.

"We are not taking liberties and I can honestly say we have not done that, as the head of the team I take responsibility – you make your own luck and we have to do that very quickly."
