Howe admits Bournemouth needed points after Sheffield Utd loss

Eddie Howe was disappointed to conceded a sloppy winner against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The relegation threatened Cherries were desperate for points and took an early lead through Callum Wilson.

But goals from Billy Sharp and John Lundstram won the game for Sheffield, with the latter's especially annoying Howe.

He said: "Generally, I thought the performance overall was very good.

"The two goals we conceded were out of keeping really with the overall performance. The first time they had real genuine pressure in the game, we conceded.

"Genuinely I thought our defensive performance was pretty good. But if you look at the two goals, we've made a lot of mistakes to the build-up to those goals.

"The second goal I thought was a really poor one."

He added: "We needed to come here and get something, that's my feeling from today, especially with all the good work we put into the match.

"We cannot waste games, it's going to be tight at the bottom. We're running out of moments, we need points."
