Tim Howard is pleased Everton have managed to secure Phil Jagielka and Joseph Yobo to new contracts.

"It's great news," Howard told evertonTV. "I'm excited for those guys [Jagielka and Yobo] and it's really nice to see how happy they are here and how much they want to stay here.

"That has a knock-on effect. It makes me want to be here, it makes the next guy want to be here.

"If you're offered a new deal you don't really stall over it - you're just delighted the Club feels that way about you.

"It's been a fantastic three years and this is the place I want to be so, for me, the feeling was mutual."
