Houston Dynamo enthusiastic ahead of Aston Villa friendly

Houston Dynamo president Chris Canetti is eagerly anticipating the July visit of English Premier League club Aston Villa.

The MLS side will take on the Birmingham-based outfit at the BBVA Compass Stadium on July 26 in the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup which will also take in a July 23 meeting with FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.

Canetti was excited about the event and was looking forward to welcoming Paul Lambert and his side to Houston in the summer.

"Every year, we engage in a worldwide search to try and a team that will be a good fit for the Dynamo Charities Cup," Canetti said.

"We talked to dozens of teams but ultimately narrowed it down based on a number of factors.

"Ultimately, as the pot shrunk, we started to zero in on Aston Villa, and everything lined up at the end. They have a strong history as an English Premier League side and carry a great tradition. We look forward to putting on a good match with them."

Additionally, the Dynamo posted the following on Twitter:

However, the event could go ahead without the likes of Villa's American goalkeeper Brad Guzan, Belgian striker Christian Benteke, and Dynamo pair Boniek Garcia (Honduras) and Brad Davis (USA) who could all be on international duty at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
