Houllier to meet French boss over possible Villa move

Gerard Houllier will meet French Football Federation president Fernando Duchaussoy on Wednesday amid reports he is poised to become the new Aston Villa manager. Duchaussoy will hold discussions with the former Liverpool and Lyon boss when he returns from France's Euro 2012 qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Tuesday evening.

Houllier, who is currently the national technical director of French football, is expected to take the Villa Park post vacated by Martin O'Neill in the summer.

"I will meet Wednesday to take stock of the situation with him (Houllier), I'll ask him," said Duchaussoy.

"I would like to continue working with him."

Houllier is set to join Villa as manager rather than in a director of football-type role, while the club want caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald to stay involved in the first team set-up in a coaching capacity.
