Hoops saviour McCann: Celtic should move to England

Former Celtic owner Fergus McCann is adamant that the club should relocate to the English Premier League.

The man who saved the Glasgow giants from bankruptcy 20 years ago has broken his silence to speak of the benefits the English game would have to a club such as Celtic.

McCann is aware that the Hoops continue to compete in a low revenue competition in Scotland and feels that they could treble their worth if they were to break away and make the move south of the border.

"The Premier League in England now dwarfs Scottish football financially and makes Celtic's progress a daunting challenge," McCann told the Daily Record.

"I'd like to see the EPL expand to include Celtic. It could, and should, happen.

"That would triple the size of the club in financial terms overnight.

"Fans want the best and that's impossible in Scotland because there are too many small clubs."
