Hoogewerf impresses as Man Utd defeat Bradford in EFL Trophy

An excellent second-half performance helped Manchester United U21s claim a 3-0 win over Bradford City in the Papa John's Trophy on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first-half, Charlie Savage broke the deadlock when his low driven effort deflected in off Bradford captain Yann Songo'o into the back of the net.

Dillon Hoogewerf, 18, proved to be an inspired half-time substitute as he set-up Joe Hugill for an easy tap-in to double United's lead.

The flying Dutchman then put the game out of reach with a fine solo goal after being teed up by Shola Shoretire.

Neil Wood would be encouraged by the performance, especially keeping a clean sheet thanks to solid performances from Teden Mengi and Paul McShane.
