Holman cleared to make Villa debut

Aston Villa have confirmed that Brett Holman will be fine to play in the Premier League season opener this weekend.

The 28-year old midfielder was in doubt after sustaining a leg injury in Australia's 3-1 loss to Scotland on Wednesday but will now be free to make his English football debut against West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.

Villa boss Paul Lambert will also Holman's fellow Australian Chris Herd available after he returned to training from a thigh problem but striker Gabby Agbonlahor, winger Marc Albrighton and centre-back Richard Dunne are all out.

"Brett is fine. It was a precaution he came off," Lambert told the club's official website.

"Gabby, Marc and Richard are still out but Brett is okay."
