Blackpool boss Ian Holloway says they owe their deal for Derby County striker Luke Varney to Crewe icon Dario Gradi.
Holloway revealed the credit for his latest piece of cute business should go to Crewe boss Gradi.
"We played Crewe in a pre-season friendly and after the game Dario Gradi was talking about our shape and said 'have you thought about Luke Varney'," Holloway explained.
"He said he could play anywhere across the front three and that he would cause problems.
"He told me Luke was no problem as a lad either, so we went back to Derby County only to find he was on too much money for us. But we got a deal where we do not have to pay all the wages."
