Holland dumped from Euro reckoning

Holland have been unceremoniously eliminated from European Championship calculations.

The Oranje succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to the Czech Republic in Amsterdam on Tuesday night which sees them finish fourth on the Group A table in Euro2016 qualifying.

Goals from Pavel Kaderabek and Josef Sural plus an own-goal from Robin van Persie had the Dutch reeling at the Amsterdam Arena to a ten-man Czech outfit who had lost Marek Suchy to a red card in the 43rd minute.

Second-half intervention from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and van Persie brightened the hopes of Danny Blind's team but they fell short to cop their fifth defeat of the campaign which sees them miss the Euros for the first time since 1984.

The defeat leaves Blind's rein as manager in plenty of doubt.

Turkey's 1-0 win over Iceland in Konya allowed the Czechs to finish top of the group, with Iceland second, and the Turks into the play-offs for next summer's tournament in France.
