The Eagles have the oldest squad in the Premier League and remain keen to add up to four players under the age of 24 before next season.
"It hasn't changed any of our hopes or wishes," Hodgson said. "[chairman] Steve [Parish], [sporting director] Doug [Freedman] and I are all on the same wavelength in terms of what we would like to get done to help the squad improve and rejuvenate.
"The problem of course has been with all this going on, not even knowing if there was going to be another season to prepare for, not knowing at all what is going to happen to finish the 2019-20 season.
"Steve Parish has had a lot more on his plate, done a lot of sterling work with the PL to get us to this position where we are now.
"But I fully expect that once we have now got these nine games being played this season, then I think our discussions will fairly quickly now turn to: 'Ok, this season we have what we have, we're happy with that because this group has done brilliantly for us.
"But what changes might we wish to make, what players might we wish to attract to the club to make the squad stronger going into the next season?'
