Hodgson eager to bring Liverpool defender Clyne back to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are ready to bid for Liverpool fullback Nathaniel Clyne.

The Daily Mail says Palace plan to sign a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka whose £50m deal to Manchester United was confirmed on Saturday.

Belgian Timothy Castagne of Atalanta is a leading target although any deal is complicated by the Italian side qualifying last season for the Champions League.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson also likes former Eagles defender Clyne who is out of favour at Liverpool but there are question-marks whether the 28-year-old is the long-term answer.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth and was in the side beaten 5-3 by Palace.
