Hodgson beware - England boss could anger Liverpool rivals if stars are rested

It has been reported that Roy Hodgson could potentially anger Liverpool's rivals if the England boss happens to rest any of their English contingent.

Hodgson will name his England squad for the upcoming international matches against Lithuania and Italy today.

While Hodgson will surely field his strongest side for the European Championship qualifying clash against Lithuania, there have been murmurs that the 67-year old will consider releasing some members of his squad for the friendly against Italy in Turin a few days later - with a couple of Liverpool stars Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge being mentioned.

However, if Hodgson does indeed allow Red stars to rest, there is a huge possibility that the England boss will face a backlash from the Reds' top four rivals such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Southampton.

Hodgson had previously been at loggerheads with Liverpool over Sturridge's injury while on international duty and there have been talks in the media that the Three Lions boss could show favoritism towards the Reds in order to smooth things over.
