Former Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink believes Jose Mourinho is the ideal choice to bring success and silverware to Manchester United.

United appointed Mourinho as their new manager on a three-year deal last month, six months after the Portuguese coach was sacked by Chelsea following the club's worst start to a season since 1979.

"Mourinho is a coach who can deliver a performance, a success, an instant success," Hiddink told BBC Radio 5 live.

"The competition is tough in England especially, but big clubs have to be there in the top three, top four always."
