Emile Heskey believes Harry Kane looks jaded due to a physically and mentally demanding Premier League season with Tottenham.
Kane has been unable to produce his Spurs heroics for the England national team at Euro2016 and that is because he is suffering the ill-effects of a lengthy campaign at club level.
Former England striker Heskey admits he is a big fan of Kane but feels the likes of Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge from his former clubs - Leicester City and Liverpool - may have more of an impact for the Three Lions in the knockout stages of the competition.
"I do like Harry Kane," said Heskey.
"In the two games he has played, with the teams sitting back, he hasn't really taken on that role too well. It seems Jamie Vardy has that energy.
"I know a lot of people are saying he might be mentally tired because it's been a long season, I think he played 52 games.
"Whereas Vardy looks quite fresh, and even Daniel Sturridge because he didn't play too much.
"I like Sturridge, he is the sort of player who can create something from nothing."
