Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera says he is proud of his relationship with the fans.

Herrera is in the middle of new contract talks with United.

He said, “I could never have imagined I was going to receive so much love from the United fans. I'll never be able to give back everything they do for me.

“The only way I can come close is to give everything every time I represent the club. I realised very quickly that, as long as you do that – as long as you die on the pitch for the club and the badge – the fans will forgive you if you make mistakes.

“That is something really different because this is a club that has won a lot of trophies with some of the best players in history."
