Helsingborg interested in Wigan defender Edman

Helsingborg are keen to bring Wigan defender Erik Edman back to the club were he started his career. The 30-year-old has struggled to regain his place in the Latics side this term after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in March 2008.

"It is our hope and our expectation," sporting director Jesper Jansson told Expressen.

"We are very interested in Erik. I talk to him once in a while, just asking about how things go.

"He has told me that he wants to finish this season and see how it goes."

However Jansson admitted that Edman's wages could prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations.

"It is our goal. But we haven't looked into the economic part yet. He knows we are very interested, that's no secret. I hope this will go through," he added.
