Dean Heffernan will return to Australia to take up his three-year deal with new A-League club Melbourne Heart following his stint with English League One outfit Huddersfield Town.

The 30-year old left-back arrived in West Yorkshire from the Central Coast Mariners in January with the hope of making Australia's World Cup squad and after initially impressing at the Galpharm Stadium, he fell slightly out of favour and will now come back and continue his A-League career with the Heart.

Heffernan made 15 appearances for the Terriers who came agonisingly close to making the Championship promotion play-off but were knocked out by Millwall in the penultimate match.
