Heerenveen winger Chidera Ejuke: Liverpool trials inspired me

Heerenveen winger Chidera Ejuke has lifted the lid on his time with Liverpool.

Scouted by the Reds as a 17 year-old, Ejuke was offered the chance of trials after being spotted at the Gee-Lec academy in Nigeria.

“Gee-Lec provided clothing and football boots. But more importantly, they have contacts with agents. One of them arranged an internship at Liverpool. I was seventeen years old, was able to train with a youth team and was given a tour of the stadium on Anfield Road," said Ejuke.

“I only knew big stadiums from television. Now that I had seen one with my own eyes, I knew: they really exist. My dream became tangible, my hunger to succeed was even greater than it already was."

This season, which was cancelled by the local government, Ejuke was flying, scoring nine goals and providing four assists for Heerenveen.
