Hearts' McGowan makes Partick Thistle debut

Heart of Midlothian defender Ryan McGowan made his Partick Thistle debut on Tuesday night in Scotland's First Division.

The 21-year old Australian midfielder/defender has joined the Jags on an emergency loan deal and came straight into Ian McCall's starting line-up for the clash with Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

McGowan played 72 minutes of the 1-1 draw and said he was looking forward to a bit more first team action at Firhill Stadium.

"I think this will be a good move for me and hopefully I can start playing regularly every weekend," he said.

McGowan enjoyed a loan spell in Scotland's second tier last season with Ayr United, making 28 league starts for the relegated club.
